Mirror effect spray is at its best on clear glass and acrylic that you can spray from the back: frame glass, jar and vase interiors, glass tabletops, cabinet door panels, acrylic sheets and letters. Pintyplus Mirror Effect Spray Paint for Glass turns the back of a very smooth transparent surface into a mirror-like finish, seen through the glass. That is where these ideas come from. On opaque materials like wood, metal or plastic, it gives a glossy silver finish instead of a mirror, so we have kept this list to glass and acrylic.
At a glance
- Product: Pintyplus Mirror Effect Spray Paint for Glass, 400 ml
- Works on: clear glass, acrylic glass and similar very smooth transparent surfaces
- Spray: the reverse side, in several very thin coats, from 20 cm
- Quick wins: frame glass, jar and vase interiors, glass tabletops
- One can: covers about 2 m², enough for several small projects
What makes a good mirror effect project?
Three things decide whether an idea will work:
- The surface is clear glass or clear acrylic, not frosted, painted or textured.
- You can reach the back of it with the spray, because that is the side you paint.
- The painted back won’t be scrubbed or scratched once the piece is in use.
If a project ticks all three, it is a good candidate. If you have to spray the side you look at, the result is a shiny silver coat, not a mirror.

Ideas for glass jars and vases
Mirrored vase from a clear glass vase
Spray the inside of a wide-mouthed clear glass vase in thin coats. From the outside, it looks like a solid mirrored vase. Use it for dry or artificial flowers, since water sitting inside would be against the painted surface.
Storage jars for a dressing table
Wide-mouthed glass jars sprayed on the inside make mirrored holders for cotton pads, hair ties and brushes. Keep them for dry items.
Mirrored lantern panes
Many decorative lanterns have flat clear glass panes. Take the panes out, spray the inner side, and refit them. Use an LED light inside rather than a real candle, since heat near the paint is not something Pintyplus covers.
Ideas for frames, panels and tabletops
Small mirrors from old frame glass
The glass from an old photo frame becomes a small mirror. Spray the back, let it dry, and refit it in the frame. It is one of the easiest first projects, and a good way to practise.
A mirrored glass tabletop
A side table or coffee table with a clear glass top can be sprayed on the underside for a mirrored top. The painted side faces down, away from cups and cleaning.
Cabinet and wardrobe door panels
Clear glass panels in cabinet doors can be taken out and sprayed on the inside face for a mirrored look, which also hides a cluttered shelf.
Acrylic wall panels and mirror tiles
Clear acrylic sheet, cut into squares or shapes and sprayed on the back, makes lightweight mirror tiles for a feature wall or a child’s room, where real glass mirrors would be a worry.
Mirrored acrylic letters and signs
Clear acrylic letters and logos sprayed on the back give a mirrored sign for a shop counter, salon or event backdrop.

Ideas for Eid, weddings and gifts
- Mirrored glass trays for mehndi and wedding decor, sprayed on the underside, for dry decor items
- Framed mirror gifts made from frame glass, with a name or message on the frame
- Mirrored jar sets for Eid gift hampers filled with dry items
- Acrylic mirror name plates or cake-table backdrops for events, kept away from the food itself
- Glass-topped jewellery boxes with a mirrored lid, sprayed on the inside of the glass
Leave enough time before the event. The paint dries in minutes, but you’ll want a day to check the finish and redo any piece that came out patchy.
What won’t work?
- Wood, MDF, metal, plastic and ceramics. Pintyplus says you get a high-gloss silver effect on opaque surfaces, not a mirror. For a shiny finish on those, use Pintyplus Chrome Effect Spray Paint instead.
- Narrow-necked bottles, because you can’t coat the inside evenly.
- Frosted or patterned glass, because it isn’t smooth enough.
- Anything that holds food or drink, or sits near a flame.
How do you get a clean result?
Clean the glass with soapy water, then rubbing alcohol, and handle it only by the edges. Shake the can for a minute, then spray the back from 20 cm in very thin, quick coats, first horizontally and then vertically, a few seconds apart. It dries in about 5 minutes. Work on a dry day, in a still, ventilated room away from dust. Our step-by-step guide to mirror effect spray on glass covers every step.
Common questions
Can I use mirror effect spray on a wooden frame?
On the wood itself, you’ll get a glossy silver look, not a mirror. Spray the frame’s glass on the back for a mirror, or use Chrome Effect on the wood.
Is the finish washable?
The front is plain glass, so you clean it like any glass. Don’t scrub the painted back.
Can I do a full wall?
With acrylic sheets or glass panels sprayed on the back, yes, in sections. Painting a plastered wall directly won’t give a mirror.
